The West Africa Mining Security (WAMS) Conference will be held in Accra from 22-23 September 2026 hosted by the Australian High Commission, Accra in partnership with MS Risk and Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG).
West Africa Mining Security Conference 2026
Tuesday to Wednesday, 22 September – 23 September 2026
In its sixth edition, WAMS brings together academics, security practitioners, subject matter experts, and the mining industry to discuss regional security trends and operational challenges.
The conference provides an opportunity for mine management and security professionals to share current assessments of risk and best practice risk mitigation strategies.

How do I make payment?
Payment is via card, mobile money or bank transfer. Payment can also be made with card or cash at the Australian High Commission, Accra. Depending on your payment preference, the online ticket purchase form will provide further details.
Are corporate rates for accommodation available?
Please reach out to wams@dfat.gov.au for more information. Due to the anticipated demand, we recommend you book early to secure your room.
Are meals included in my registration fee?
Yes – you will be served morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for all the days you have registered and paid.
I have special dietary requirements – should I tell you about it?
Lunch and refreshments will be served buffet-style, offering a wide selection of options. If you require a special meal due to allergies, intolerances, or for religious reasons, please email wams@dfat.gov.au in advance to ensure we can accommodate your needs.
What language will the conference be held in?
English and French. Interpretation services will be available.

PAYMENT
The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission unless proof of payment is received.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Registered attendees may be substituted not less than one week prior to the event. Please notify via wams@dfat.gov.au
VISAS
Visas are the responsibility of conference participants. ECOWAS nationals do not require a visa to enter Ghana. For most other nationals, including Australians, visas must be obtained in advance in the participant’s usual country of residence.
For further information on visa requirements, contact your nearest Ghanaian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate. We can provide visa support letters if required. Please contact wams@dfat.gov.au
HEALTH & VACCINATIONS
It is an entry requirement to Ghana that travellers present a valid yellow fever vaccination card on arrival. Participants should also consider using malaria prophylaxis in Ghana where the disease is endemic. For further information on health and vaccinations, consult your medical professional or the World Health Organisation’s advice for travellers.
